Whether in Division I, Division II, or Division III, any NCAA basketball coach would be more than happy to lead his team to a National Championship. Five men have led teams to their respective division’s title four times or more: John Wooden, Arad McCutchan, Mike Krzyzewski, Adolph Rupp, and Bo Ryan. Not only have these coaches led teams to a national title, but they have also done so with teams from only one school.

John Wooden

The most successful coach in college basketball in terms of championships is John Wooden. Wooden coached the UCLA Bruins to 10 of their 11 Division I National Championships, 7 of which were consecutive. Wooden retired from coaching after UCLA won the title in 1975.

Arad McCutchan

Although they currently play at the Division I level, the University of Evansville is second only to Kentucky Wesleyan in the number of Division II titles won, with 5. Arad McCutchan coached all of the Purple Aces championship teams, the last of which took home the Division II title in 1971.
